The Lines

Line
South Fylde Line

The South Fylde Line Community Rail Partnership covers the line between Preston, on the the West Coast Main Line, with Blackpool South via the Fylde Coast.

Preston to Blackpool South

Leaving Preston the first station is Salwick which is close to the Springfields nuclear fuels plant but served by only six trains a day. Next is Kirkham & Wesham serving the two towns but is closer to Medlar-with-Wesham. Next is Moss Side a tiny hamlet near to Wrea Green. Then we arrive at Lytham a popular seaside resort and once home of the Clifton family who lived in Lytham Hall. The next station is Ansdell & Fairhaven, the only station in England to be named after an artist. St. Anne’s-on-the-Sea is next, another very popular seaside resort with a Victorian pier. We then reach Squires Gate close to the start of the famous Blackpool Tramway. Next stop is for ‘all the fun of the fair’ Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened in 1987 specifically to serve the adjacent theme park. Finally we reach the end of the line at Blackpool South, close to South Shore and Blackpool Football Club.

The South Fylde Line Community Rail Partnership (SFLCRP) has a group that meets quarterly.
