Every Tuesday – Clitheroe Country Market, in the Church Hall on Moor Lane, Clitheroe BB7 1AZ, 09:30 – 12:00 – a country market with quality home baked, hand made and home grown produce. A wide selection of goods from a co-operative of local producers. Home made cakes, pies and jams also handicraft items such as cards, knits and textile gifts. First Thursday of every month – St. Anne’s Farmers Market, in the main square in St. Anne’s a monthly farmers market with locally and regionally produced food and drink on sale. Meet the people who grow, rear, make and bake your food. More details on www.visitlancashire.com/

Third Saturday of every month – Clitheroe Piano Meet Up, would you like to meet fellow players, share knowledge and develop your performance skills on a Bechstein grand? Last Saturday of the month until October – Darwen Artisan Market – a celebration of creativity and community on the last Saturday of the month, at Darwen’s Monthly Artisan Market on the vibrant Darwen Market Square. Immerse yourself in the charm of this lively town and experience a delightful event that celebrates local creativity and craftsmanship.

Fourth Weekend of each month – Whalley Monthly Artisan Market, located in the heart of Whalley, this weekend market brings together art, design, fashion, vintage and much more from over 35 local North West creators, makers and curators. 10:00 – 16:00. Now and until Saturday 27 July 2024 – Clitheroe Castle Museum Festival of Archaeology – from pottery to armchair archaeology and bookable sessions for budding young archaeologists the museum is set for a fortnight of fun and discovery! Wednesday 17 July 2024 – Organ Recital, Blackburn Cathedral – Blackburn Cathedral is renowned for its commitment to showcasing a variety of musical offerings and our midweek concerts take place on most Wednesday lunchtimes during school term. Organ concerts are given on the our incredible Walker/Wood organ. Each week we present a different organist, this week it is local organist Philip Crozier at the keyboard. All of our Wednesday lunchtime organ concerts start at 12:15 and are free to attend with a retiring collection.

Saturday 20 July 2024 – Yorkshire Dales Explorer Guided Walks – two guided walks led by the Lancashire Rail Ramblers. Walk 1 is a strenuous 12.5 miles and Walk 2 is a moderately strenuous 8.5 miles. Both walks start and finish at Horton in Ribblesdale. Full details on YDE Walks Programme 2024

Saturday 27 July 2024 – Yorkshire Dales Explorer Guided Walks – two guided walks led by the Lancashire Rail Ramblers. Walk 1 is a moderately strenuous 10 miles and Walk 2 is a moderate 6 miles. Both walks start and finish at Ribblehead. Full details on YDE Walks Programme 2024

Tuesday 30 July 2024 – From Prison to Citizenship: For the right to vote – a talk about the journey to citizenship for women. From exclusion in 1832 to limited franchise in 1918, Helen explores the journey towards citizenship for women, ending with a light hearted look at the first election in Preston when some women could finally cast a vote. Central Methodist Church, Lune Street, Preston, Lancashire PR1 2NL. 14:00 doors open 13:30 for registration and refreshments £5 on the door or to be assured of a place book at https://www.trybooking.com/uk/DKDK

Saturday 3 August 2024 – Yorkshire Dales Explorer & FoSCL Guided Walks – four guided walks led by the Lancashire Rail Ramblers and the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line. Walk 1 (LRR) is a moderate 11 miles, alight Ribblehead and return Horton in Ribblesdale. Walk 2 (LRR) is an easy 8 miles, alight and return Ribblehead. Walk 3 (LRR) is an easy stroll of 3 to 4 miles, alight and return Settle. Walk 4 (FoSCL) Kirkby Humdinger is a moderate walk of 10 miles alight and return Kirkby Stephen A humdinger of a walk through the Westmorland countryside with some stunning views along the way. Tuesday 13 August 2024 – A CRL Guided Walk – an easy 5 mile guided walk led by the volunteers from the Lancashire Rail Ramblers. The walk starts at Mill Hill (Lancs) (10:39) and finishes at Darwen. Full details on Community Rail Lancashire Guided Walks (Summer & Autumn 2024)

A series of films is being made for Community Rail Lancashire by a local creative film company Huckleberry Films which are designed to encourage people to Explore Lancashire by Rail. Make a Beeline for the Station

‘Make a Beeline for the Station!’ is a community marketing project, that combined the vital elements of local education and wider group engagement with tourism attractions and professional marketing. The project, funded by a Northern Seedcorn Grant and by the Community Rail Development Fund is designed to encourage use of Northern’s hourly weekday service from Preston to Ormskirk and then on into Liverpool using Merseyrail services.

Discover the South Fylde Line

Discover the South Fylde Line is a brand new line guide launched by the South Fylde Line Community Rail Partnership (SFLCRP) and Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) during Community Rail Week 2022. The leaflet takes you along the South Fylde Line from Preston to Blackpool South highlighting many things you can do along the line. Discover Amazing Women by Rail

Discover Amazing Women by Rail is a project initiated by the Mid Cheshire Line CRP and invites people to leave their car at home and use the train (along with buses and trams) to explore the fascinating, and often hidden, histories of women who lived and worked in areas along the Mid Cheshire and Calder Valley railway lines, including the Blackburn to Manchester via Todmorden route.

The project is supported with a website (www.amazingwomenbyrail.org.uk) by an A5 booklet available from local stations, tourist information offices and libraries. The booklet can also be downloaded using this link: Amazing Women by Rail
