The Clitheroe Line and East Lancashire CRPs held their quarterly meeting on Wednesday 11th January. The meeting received presentations from Richard Watts, the Partnership Secretary, who gave an update on the CRPs Activity Plan and from Owain Roberts and Martin Keating from Northern. Melanie Taylor opened the meeting and reported on the sad passing away of Marjorie Birch. Marjorie will be best remembered for the many volunteer hours she devoted to CRL and the CRPs in delivering the education engagement programme to schools across East Lancashire and Ribble Valley. Marjorie also chaired the East Lancashire and Clitheroe Line CRPs and was a Director of CRL. She will be greatly missed.
Richard Watts announced that a second round of the ‘Let’s Connect Communities’ fund will be available for local groups to bid into early this year – look out for further information about this great opportunity.
Darwen Tower
Richard also reported that CRL and the Clitheroe Line CRP recently launched the latest video in its series ‘Explore Lancashire By Rail’. This video features a walk from Darwen Station to Darwen Tower and can be viewed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmdTWnEX_yk&t=2s. CRL was delighted to welcome Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn, on the 4th November 2022 to the ‘bunker’ at Accrington Railway Station and to explain some of the activities carried out by the CRL team along with the great work done by the CRPs and station volunteers.
