Sprucing up Blackpool Pleasure Beach Station

With funding from Northern Trains, the Friends of Blackpool Pleasure Beach were delighted to unveil the newly installed bench on 28th August 2025, for this very busy station.

The bench is made from recycled plastic which is great for the environment and also provides more well needed seating for passengers. The bench also doubles up as a storage box where tools can be housed and makes them easily accessible to help the dedicated Friends keep the station looking welcoming; something which is very noticeable since the group set up formally this year.

Euan Hilton, Northern’s Station Manager commented: “Northern welcomes the activities of the Friends of Blackpool Pleasure Beach in enhancing the station. We continue to work with them on their future ideas for the station”.

Martin Keating, Northern’s Regional Community and Sustainability Manager said: “I would like to thank all the partners who have contributed towards this exciting project. Station adopters/volunteers are invaluable to enhancing our stations and Northern values their commitment”.

Tony Ford, Chair of the South Fylde Line Community Rail Partnership said, “Thank you for all the commitment shown by the newly formed friend’s group at this station – What a difference their activities are making to this station”.
