The Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) have just informed Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) that we have been successful in securing another Designated Community Rail Development Fund (DCRDF) grant.
The grant will be used for the design and printing of a pull up vinyl banner and the printing of a booklet to promote CRL’s student summer programme to further education establishments in the North West. As a part of the new Northern Franchise, CRL has been tasked with extending CRL’s award winning educational engagement to work with the different transitional phases within education. The starting point for this engagement is with further education students thinking about their career options.
The aims of the summer programme are to engage young people in the community as they contribute volunteer hours and help with community work as well as spending some time with a train operating company. This will help secure the relationship between community rail and the various train operators with agreements already in place with Arriva Rail North and Virgin Trains West Coast. The promotional materials will help generate interest in community rail and raise CRL’s profile to younger people whom are already independent commuters encouraging them to take part in our volunteer scheme.
The Designated Community Rail Development Fund (DCRDF) is supported by the Department for Transport and the Association of Community Rail Partnerships and is an annual funding stream for community rail lines that have been designated as a part of the government’s Community Rail Strategy.
