Ansdell & Fairhaven station

Friday 27th January saw the Eco Council from Ansdell Primary School working hard planting tulip bulbs at Ansdell & Fairhaven railway station.

The bulbs were being planted in the new recycled plastic seat/planter combinations that had recently been delivered to the Friends of Ansdell & Fairhaven station by Ark Plastics of Accrington. The seats provide a much needed additional facility at the station. On hand to help the children were some of the Friends of Ansdell & Fairhaven station, including Karen Cornforth.

Tony Ford, Chair of the South Fylde Community Rail Partnership commented that: “This structure not only provides spaces for the station volunteers to demonstrate their horticultural skills but also offers  some much-needed additional seating. This is yet another example of station adopters, Community Rail and Northern working together to improve railway stations and enhance the passenger experience“.

This project has been funded by grants from the Community Rail Network, Community Rail Lancashire and Northern’s Station Adoption Fund.
