Recent overnight work by Network Rail has seen the platform at Blackpool Pleasure Beach station on the South Fylde Line given a new lease of life. The work has included replacing a number of damaged wooden panels and then resurfacing the entire platform including tactile strips close to the platform edge.
Amanda Cane, Building Better Opportunities Contract Coordinator with UR Potential Blackpool, commented; “I am really pleased to see the investment that has taken place in the station. It has made the station far more attractive to users and I look forward to welcoming holidaymakers and other passengers back when the current restrictions are eased.”
“The improvements will give our station volunteers a boost and we hope to be back working on the newly resurfaced platform shortly.”
Tony Ford, Chair of the South Fylde Line CRP added; “I am really pleased to see so many improvements taking place on routes in the northwest. It is pleasing to see the South Fylde Line benefiting from increased rail investment. Blackpool Pleasure Beach station has needed a refresh for some time so it is good to see repairs to the existing structure and a new platform surface.”
At Lytham the customer service screen in the shelter has now been commissioned and is fully operational and gives details of next services.
Wigan Wallgate station is due to have a deep clean at the beginning of June that will see work taking place over five days and nights. The deep clean will include all areas of the station including waiting rooms, toilets, lights and lighting columns, seating, wood and paint work, stairs and lifts, glazing both inside and outside the station and a clean of the paving at the front of the station.
