Lancashire Branch Lines Get More Services

Since the introduction of Key Worker timetables back in late March, local train operator Northern has been steadily uplifting services on a periodic basis under the principles of reliability, capacity provision and resilience.

The latest to see improvements are the West of Lancashire, Preston to Ormskirk and the South Fylde, Preston to Blackpool South Lines with additional services being introduced from Monday 20th July 2020.

Preston to Ormskirk

Additional peak morning service departing Preston at 07:26 calling at all stations to Ormskirk and a return departing from Ormskirk at 08:01 calling all stations to Preston.

Preston to Blackpool South

Additional services departing Preston at 09:35, 11:35, 13:34 & 16:35 calling all stations to Blackpool South and returning from Blackpool South at 10:13, 12:13, 14:13 & 17:13 calling all stations to Preston.

Tony Ford, Chair of the South Fylde Line CRP says: “I am really pleased that Northern are continuing to increase the number of services along the South Fylde Line and so providing more capacity for travellers. This is good to see and proves that rail travel is safe and sends a positive message to all rail users”

Also seeing extra services is the Blackpool North to Manchester Airport (via Bolton) route with three additional trains in each direction.
