Thursday 7 August saw pre-school children come to the rescue of The Friends of Bamber Bridge Station following some senseless vandalism on the station.

Footprints Child Care who are based just a few minutes from the station brought a small group of children following an invitation by the Friends group. They had this to say:
We’ve had a fabulous afternoon with pre-school and our new friends at South Ribble Pensioner Association. After we spotted that some vandalism had ruined the hard work that the Pensioners Association had put in to make the railway station at Bamber Bridge look so wonderful, we thought our green fingered pre-schoolers would be able to help out with some planting expertise.
The children spoke about how it would be lovely to go and help out our new friends and show them how much we have learnt from our Secret Garden at nursery. A small group of children went along to the station and we even took some of our plants and tools to see if we could help by making their memory garden look at little brighter.
This wonderful experience has helped all of our pre-school children understand how important it is to think about community and the people that we help. Volunteering is a strong skill to learn and hopefully this will stay with the children when they grow up. Learning that kindness and charity are important skills and that they can really have an impact on other’s lives through being considerate of others.
Thank you to the South Ribble Pensioner Association for inviting us to come along and helping us to plant our flowers, we hope the garden stays beautiful for many years to come.
