L-R, Richard Watts, Chair CRL, David Tebb, Arts2Heal, Mike Cliffe, Chair Clitheroe Line CRP, Pete Eastham, Ribble Valley Rail, Tom Pridmore, Ribble Valley Borough Council & Caroline Holden CRL.
Richard Watts, Chair of Community Rail Lancashire, commented: “This is a busy line carrying hundreds of commuters and students every day to the towns and cities along the route. Yet the line also connects major urban centres with some of the best countryside in Lancashire as it passes through the West Pennine Moors, the Ribble Valley and finally with onward connections into the Forest of Bowland National Landscape.” Richard continued saying; “Our new ‘Explore the Clitheroe Line: Line Guide and Timetable‘ provides lots of ideas for days out giving you time to explore the many beautiful areas using the train and, in some cases onward bus connections. It also provides details of the Saturday only Yorkshire Dales Explorer. Pick up a copy and ‘Explore the Clitheroe Line’.”
Tom Pridmore FTMI, Tourism Officer at Ribble Valley Borough Council said: “The new guide for the Clitheroe line provides a fascinating introduction to some of the many places and attractions to be discovered in Ribble Valley. The timetable also provides a clear guide to train times along with useful links to bus routes which open up further places to explore. All perfect for car free sustainable travel.”
Members of Arts2Heal of Blackburn visited all the stations between Bolton and Clitheroe to photograph places of interest, and these lovely images are included in the leaflet.
Community and Sustainability Manager at Northern Martin Keating said, “I am so pleased that this project has come to fruition. This is a great achievement by all concerned. Well done to all our community partners who have made this happen.”
