The Leeds, Lancaster & Morecambe CRP (The Bentham Line) have just heard that they have been successful in securing £500 from ACoRP’s Small Grant Fund.
The Day In The Life Of Bentham is a photographic competition and exhibition. On Wednesday 29th July 2015 the Friends of Bentham Station (FoBS) are asking everyone in Bentham to take photographs of anywhere, anyone or any event in the whole parish between the hours of 00:00 & 23:59:59. The photographs will be posted on a gallery page linked to the ‘We Are Bentham’ local trader’s association Facebook pages, as well as the FoBS and CRL websites.
The project has already been successful in securing a grant of £750 from Champion Bowland, and contributions from We Are Bentham (£300) and Bentham Businesses (£150) and FoBS (£150). The latest grant of £500 from the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) Small Grants Fund helps FoBS reach the project total cost of £1850.
The photographs are to be judged in early August and a selection of the photographs will be mounted and exhibited for a week in late August at Bentham Imaging, a Bentham Main Street photographic studio. Everyone will be able to vote for the ‘Peoples’ Choice’ photograph and a prize-giving event will take place at the studio during the exhibition week.
The mounted photographs will then be available as a travelling exhibition, to encourage other local communities, including those in the Forest of Bowland (AONB), to capture the spirit of their parish. In addition composites of the selected photographs are to be permanently displayed on two large art panels entitled ‘Postcards from Bentham’ on Bentham station.
Champion Bowland is a social enterprise charity which has been established to encourage tourism businesses, visitors, local communities and groups to work together in caring for the Forest of Bowland landscape.
We Are Bentham is a group of local business owners, working together to promote and improve business opportunities in the Bentham area.
ACoRP’s Small Grants Fund is available to members and is mainly aimed at pump priming small projects at stations.
