Community Rail Lancashire is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in three categories for the 2019 ACoRP Community Rail Awards.
Firstly, ‘Involving Children and Young People’, for our LGBT+ youth engagement project, ‘Stand Clear of the Closet Doors!’ This project increased awareness and visibility of LGBT+ history, facts and issues on the Northern network, as well as involving young LGBT+ people in confidently using rail.
Secondly, ‘Involving Diverse Groups‘, for our ‘On Track to Train’ employment programme for underrepresented groups in rail and community rail; including young people from the BAME community, young women, young people with additional needs and disabilities, and other groups.
Finally, ‘Small Projects Award (£500 or less)’, for ‘Bringing the Sunshine to Morecambe’, our project in collaboration with the National Literacy Trust, which engaged families from disadvantaged areas in accessing rail travel to Morecambe to enable them to confidently access public transport.
CRL would also like to congratulate the Leeds Morecambe Community Rail Partnership on securing shortlisting in two categories and to Gerald Townson for being shortlisted in the photograph category.
