The current period of lockdown has presented people an unexpected opportunity to try something different and learn a new skill. This certainly has been the case with a group of of community rail officers, who have literally been turning their hand at learning sign language.
An initiative started by East Midlands Railway’s Kaye Robinson and Community Rail Network community rail support officer, Daniel Wright has come to fruition as a small video in support of Deaf Awareness Week.
Kaye and Dan were joined by Terri Ryland and Jayne Sumner (Essex and South Suffolk CRP), Jo Andrews (Poacher Line CRP), Julia Singleton-Tasker (Heart of England CRP) and CRL’s own Karen Bennett, saying hello and introducing themselves in British Sign Language. The video is featured the Community Rail Network YouTube channel and has been a popular feature on social media.
