Burscough Parish Council working with the West of Lancashire Community Rail Partnership have just heard that a bid for seed corn funding from local train operator Arriva Rail North has been successful.
The Parish Council and CRP are investigating the possibility of using the redundant interchange building to create a community hub. The seed corn funding will be used to engage an architect to investigate how the interior of the building can be remodelled to make it more suitable for use as a community hub and to create a sustainable community space for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
The seed corn funding is just the first step of a long term project with a final aim of creating a Burscough Hub that may again become a transport interchange supporting rail and bus.
