Welcome To Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Year 9 GCSE Art students have been working hard alongside their Art Teacher, Jon Evans and professional artist and photographer , Diane Muldowney to brighten up Blackpool Pleasure Beach station.

The pupils have been taking inspiration from their local area, initially taking photographs that places of interest to them and two particular artists that they have been studying for their qualifications. Details of which are given below:

This project draws on the playful graphic language of French illustrator Claire Rolett and the experimental approach of Robert Rauschenberg, whose work, shaped by American Abstract Expressionism, helped lead the way toward Pop Art. Together, these influences informed the students’ creative responses for Welcome to Blackpool Pleasure Beach station, developed by students at Armfield Academy.
Cyanotype printing from digital negatives was also used in the project, created from the students’ photographs taken around the station and the surrounding area.
