Speakers Art Fund Bid Success

Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) has been successful in an application to the Houses of Parliament Speaker’s Art Fund Small Grant Scheme to part fund a new project with match funding coming from CRL.

Year 5 RotaKids pupils at St Andrew’s CE Primary School at Accrington station

Through this funding, Angie Thompson, local Lancashire artist and illustrator, will be working with the Year 5 RotaKids pupils at St Andrew’s CE Primary School, Oswaldtwistle. The pupils will develop ideas to help increase awareness of the Hyndburn Greenway between Church & Oswaldtwistle and Accrington stations which will then be displayed at both stations.

Richard Watts, Chair Community Rail Lancashire commented: “This is an exciting opportunity for the Year 5 pupils at St Andrew’s School to work with a local artist to make a positive difference to Church & Oswaldtwistle and Accrington stations and to promote the Hyndburn Greenway as a great way to access both stations. The pupils will develop their ideas with Angie, who will collate them for display at the stations. A big thank you to the Speaker’s Art Fund for helping make this opportunity possible”.

You can have your say too!

CRL will be looking for further funding to bring the ideas into reality later in the year. You can help us evidence local interest in this by taking part in a short questionnaire.
