Network Rail’s Northern Programme is well under way to upgrade the railway between Preston and Blackpool North.
The first piled foundations for the gantries to support the new overhead line equipment (OHLE) on the route were installed over the weekend. When complete the new OHLE will provide power to the new electric trains due to be introduced in May 2018.
