Northern Rail has confirmed that two extra trains will run to take horse racing fans to Aintree Racecourse for the Grand National on Saturday, April 15.

The additional services will run from Preston to Ormskirk at 09.33 and 11.32 in the morning, returning from Ormskirk to Preston at 19.18 and 21.18 in the evening. The extra services will run on both Friday, April 14 for Grand National Ladies Day and Saturday, April 15 for the big race itself, calling at all intermediate stations between Ormskirk and Preston.

The Grand National starts at 5.15pm on the Saturday, so both services allow plenty of time for race-goers to soak up the Grand National atmosphere and watch the entire race before heading home by train.
