New Activity At Church & Oswaldwtistle Station

Saturday 3rd June saw great activity at Church & Oswaldtwistle station with the Rotarians, who have adopted the station, planting 268 Begonias and generally tidying up the station.

As Michael Jackson, leader of the volunteers, commented: “The day started with the laying down of 7 large bags of high quality compost which Ken had purchased from a local garden centre, each person was given a bag of compost for each of  the stations seven planters, when this was completed, the next job was to plant the begonias which Lyndon and Michael had collected from Michael’s house, it was excellent to see how this operation ran so smoothly”.

With thanks to Ken, Lyndon, Glyn, Michael R, Shahed, Jim and MJ who undertook the planting in glorious weather to Franco who took plenty of pictures of the day’s activity and Stuart who supplied much needed refreshments to the team.

Richard Watts, Chair of Community Rail Lancashire, added: “It is great to see the station becoming a blaze of colour and CRL is delighted to have been able to help the team purchase the begonias. The station is a great credit to the hard work of the Rotarian Team.”
