“Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) has just published its 2023 Annual Report. This sets out the wide range of work carried out by CRL and the 4 Community Rail Partnerships and we hope that you will find the report informative and inspiring.

Richard Watts, Chair CRL, commented: “2023 has been an extremely busy year for CRL. We have worked hard to deliver new projects including the ‘Feel Good Field Trips’ for Avanti West Coast and ‘Try The Train’ for Northern. We have also been working with local authority and industry partners to find a way to reintroduce the popular DalesRail service.

The report includes many case studies including ‘By Train to Clitheroe Castle’ and the RotaKids project in East Lancashire. Over in West Lancashire we have been working with the Martin Mere Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust on a project called ‘Through Here to Martin Mere’ and on the South Fylde we helped launch the ‘Lifeboats and Bikes Ahoy’ project. I would like to thank all our funders as well as our many partners and volunteers who give so much time to helping develop the local railway network – we simply can’t do any of this without you.”
