Community Rail Week 2025 Draws To A Close

The 2025 National Community Rail Week has now officially finished. Community Rail Lancashire was involved in events right up to the end.

Friday 23 May 2025 saw the official unveiling of the Chatty bench at St. Annes-on-the-Sea station.

New St. Annes Town Mayor Cllr Karen Harrison today opened the new “Chatty Bench” at St. Anne’s Railway Station. A brilliant job as always by the volunteer team of Friends Of St. Anne’s Station. Still some signage to go up but it is somewhere to stop and have a chat.

Funding was provided by the Co-op Community Fund, St Annes Town Council, Northern Station Adoption Fund and Community Rail Lancashire.

Saturday 24 May 2025 saw Community Rail Lancashire staff taking out two separate groups on the Yorkshire Dales Explorer service from East Lancashire to the Yorkshire Dales.

Women from local community group Aawaz enjoyed a scenic day out on the Yorkshire Dales Explorer train to Settle and Carlisle. The group visited Settle Signal Box and museum, enjoyed refreshments, and continued the journey to Carlisle, with free time to explore the city
before returning to Accrington in the evening.
