New Banner Installed On Blackburn Station

A very colourful piece of artwork has just been installed on Blackburn station to replace a very faded vinyl banner.

A small group of rail operator Northern’s apprentices working with Community Rail Lancashire, local artist Alastair Nicholson and Nightsafe, a local charity that provides safe haven for homeless people aged 16 – 24, have created a new piece of artwork with a theme of Recycle, Reuse, Regenerate to replace a very worn vinyl banner that had been installed as part of a previous project with Nightsafe back in 2012. The new banner is printed on Dibond and should have a life span of between 5 and 7 years and has been installed on the same wall where the original vinyl had been sited. Northern’s maintenance contractors ISS removed the old worn banner, painted the wall and have now completed the job with the installation of the Dibond.

The new banner can be seen towards the east end of platforms 1 & 2 on Blackburn station looking towards the tunnel.
