Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) is pleased to announce that it has been successful in securing grants foir two projects from the Community Rail Development Fund.
The first project is called Horizons and will see a mural installed at Dewsbury station. The project is a partnership between CRL, TransPennine Express, Carlton Junior & Infant School and can Do Art. The Mural has been designed by the school’s art club along with artist Candida Wood. The piece was inspired by Yorkshire artist David Hockney and it is hoped that it will attract visitors to the town and inspire the local community to use the railway more often.
The second project – Hidden Gems is a photography and song-writing project that will work with local school, community and charity groups along the Liverpool – Southport, Southport – Wigan and Wigan – Liverpool lines. Groups will work with photographers, visual artists and song-writers to create new work that captures the many Hidden Gems that are very near many of our train stations. Look out for sweeping beachscapes, architectural/historical points of interest, areas of natural beauty, lively community centres, bustling town centres, and much more!
The Community Rail Development Fund (CRDF) is a joint initiative of the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP).
