Community Rail Lancashire has just learned that a project involving a group of Arriva Rail North apprentices has just been awarded a £4000 grant.
The grant from the Designated Community Rail Development Fund will support the completion of the ‘Brightening Up Burnley Manchester Road‘ project, which includes the installation of a canal lock themed planter (see photo above), a large Welcome to Burnley sign, a steel ‘tree’ sculpture and installation of bird boxes.
The project has also received funding from Arriva Rail North’s Seedcorn Fund and from Community Rail Lancashire.
The Designated Community Rail Development Fund (DCRDF) is a joint venture between the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) and supports projects on community rail lines designated through the Government’s Community Rail Strategy.
