Presentation to Arts2Heal for the Clitheroe Line – A Picturesque Journey
A special presentation took place at Arts2Heal for its success at the recent Community Rail Awards. The Clitheroe Line A :Picturesque Journey was awarded first place in the Community Creative Projects and Station Arts category (large group).
To celebrate this success with the team involved in the project a special event took place at the Arts2Heal offices in Blackburn where Richard Watts, Chair of Community Rail Lancashire, presented the trophy and certificate to Ben. Richard thanked all those involved in the project and especially Banu Adam, the Manager of Arts2Heal and Caroline Holden, CRL’s Community Rail Development Officer who oversaw the project and Martin Keating, Northern who provided complimentary travel for the group to enable them to visit all the stations on the Clitheroe Line.
Daniel Wright, one of the Community Rail Awards judges, said this about the project: “I really like the care and nurturing aspect towards the participants of this, which ended up with a smashing railway-themed art piece”. The artwork has been on tour and been displayed in Blackburn’s market and library and also in the Platform 5 Gallery at Bolton Station, which is managed by the South East Lancashire CRP. Further exhibitions are being planned including one at Manchester Piccadilly as part of Community Rail Week.
The celebration also heard poems written by 2 of the participants David Tebb and Darren McNally. Take a look at ‘Fish, Chips and Flying Trains’ and ‘Where the Journey Takes Us’.
