Community Rail Lancashire (CRL) is delighted to present its Annual Report for 2025. The Report highlights the hard work of the CRL Team in developing a wide range of community-based projects across our 4 Community Rail Partnerships and the North of England.

2025 saw the start of CRLs involvement in two major projects ‘On Track’ and ‘Travelling with Confidence’ both of which are funded by the Motability Foundation. 2025 was also a major celebration for the rail industry marking 200 years since the opening of the Stockton to Darlington Railway. CRL was proud to develop projects to support this national event which culminated with the visit of the Inspiration Train to Blackpool.

During the year we welcome three people to the CRL Team – Sophia Sanderson who is working with SEND groups and has developed the ‘Rail Experience’ project; Beth Nolan is the new Community Rail Officer for West Lancashire and Paula Williams is supporting Catherine Kingdom in the expansion of the Northern Try The Train project. We continue to enjoy strong support from the rail industry and especially from Northern and Avanti West Coast for which we are very grateful.
Richard Watts, Chair of Community Rail Lancashire commented: “I commend CRL’s Annual Report to you. It highlights the wide range of activities undertaken by the CRL Team across the North of England.”
