It is great news that an Arts 2 Heal project called ‘The Clitheroe Line – A Picturesque Railway Journey’, which has been on display in Blackburn Market Hall is on the move to the Platform Gallery on platform 5 at Bolton station. The project is a unique mobile exhibition of photography and drawings and poetry inspired by the places along the line and is going to be on display at Bolton from 4th to 31st August 2025.

The opening celebration is on at Bolton Station on Wednesday 6th August commencing at 12:00 when the members from Arts 2 Heal who have been involved in the project and making of the exhibition will be on hand to share their work with you too.
Banu Adam – Arts 2 Heal commented: “We are thrilled to bring “The Clitheroe Line: A Picturesque Railway Journey” to the Platform 5 Gallery at Bolton Station. This exhibition celebrates not only the beauty of the Clitheroe Line but also the journeys, both creative and personal, of the incredible individuals who took part. For many of our participants, this project was their first time exploring photography, poetry, or even travelling by train. To now see their work exhibited publicly is a powerful reminder of how art can build confidence, reduce isolation, and connect communities. We’re grateful to Community Rail Lancashire and Northern Rail for making this possible.”
Steph Dermott, South East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership added: “We are pleased to be hosting ‘A Picturesque Railway Journey’ in our Platform 5 Gallery throughout August, after recently exhibiting our own ‘Beacons of Bolton’ as part of the wider Community Rail Lancashire Clitheroe Line project working with Caroline Holden.”

Weds 27th – Sat 30th August: 10:00 – 15:00
