Saturday 7th September 2024 sees the Yorkshire Dales Explorer (YDE) offering two guided walks led by volunteers from the Lancashire Rail Ramblers. Both of the walks are based on the using the first service outward and the second return service.
Roman Road at Gearstones – John Barnes
Walk 1 is a moderately strenuous C walk of 11 miles – Alight Garsdale and return Ribblehead.
Ribblehead – Change to Leeds/Carlisle train to Garsdale – Garsdale Common – Galloway Gate – Crosshills Wold – Green Bank – Cross Pits – Swineley Cowm – Newby Head Gate – Black Rake Road – Gearstones – Ribblehead.
Scaleber Force – John Barnes
Walk 2 is an easy E walk of 8 miles – Alight Hellifield return Settle.
Hellifield – Little Newton – New House Lane – Holme Bridge – Scalehaw Hill – Langber Lane – Scaleber Force – Sugar Loaf Hill – Attermire Scar – Settle.
